Lily Potter, formerly Lily Evans was married to James Potter and the mother of Harry Potter. On 31 October 1981 she and James were killed by Voldemort, who planned to kill Harry as well.

Born on 30 January 1960, Lily would have begun attending Hogwarts in 1971, the year she turned 11. She met James Potter sometime during their time in school together, possibly on their first trip on the Hogwarts Express, as remembered by Severus Snape in the canon universe. Lily was probably sorted into Gryffindor, like James, although she was friends with Severus Snape when she first began attending school; Snape was sorted into Slytherin. Over the years Lily would become estranged from Snape due to the pressures of members of those Houses disliking each other.
Lily would have left Hogwarts around June of 1978. Around this time Lily's sister Petunia would have been attending college; Petunia, unhappy with how she perceived her life would be, begged Lily to use magic to make her more beautiful. Lily resisted doing this, telling her sister that it was dangerous and she had been warned not to do it (by a centaur!) but Petunia's demands became more drastic, and Lily capitulated and gave her a potion which made her sick for several weeks, after which she became more shapely and physically attractive.
Lily married James Potter after leaving Hogwarts, and on 31 July 1980 Harry was born to the couple.
